Offshore Operator Avoids $80K Roundtrip After MWD Tool Failure with Corva Offset Well Analysis

While drilling an intermediate section, an offshore Asia Pacific operator lost real time formation data due to MWD tool failure.

To avoid the time and high cost of a roundtrip to replace the MWD tool, the drilling team used Corva’s Parameter Comparison app to overlay depth-based drilling parameters from an adjacent offset well to provide insight into the formation and continue drilling.

By substituting real time MWD data with offset formation information, the operator was able to drill to depth and avoid unnecessary NPT costs.
